Hello friends, thanks for visiting my blog. To get things started, let me tell you a little bit about myself. 22 years ago, my grandma Harriet decided to start an antique store behind her house. What would she name it? Medleyannas, a combination of my sisters name and my name. Over the years, I grew up going to the shop and admiring the items, making friends with the customers and learning all about the art of décor. Eventually, the small building outside of her home just wasn’t quite big enough to hold all the inventory and she had to expand. We ended up at the stoplight in West End in the old post office building. Several years went by, we expanded even more. We needed a warehouse to hold our inventory when It came in. As I grew older, my love for design, staging, décor, antiques and people grew. I began working at the stores in high school, and after I went to college I knew in my heart I wanted to be an interior designer I just didn’t know if that was the best decision. I tried going into the medical field, but my heart was not in it. When I would get home at night, instead of studying I was painting furniture, or redecorating my room. I eventually started painting so much furniture that I had a house full of people’s furniture that they were paying me to paint! I began going into their homes, talking to them about design ideas, layouts of rooms and color schemes. I eventually decided to follow my heart and enrolled at RCC to begin my journey as an interior design student. Going to school, painting furniture on the side, and working at our stores may seem like a lot for a 22 year old to handle, but now there’s more. We decided to open my very own store down the road from our warehouse called Eva Janes, named after my amazing grandmothers who have nurtured me and inspired me from the start. Eva Janes is now my canvas, its where I meet my clients, I sell them beautiful things for their home and I cannot wait to see where this business takes me. I love design, I love people, I love colors, painting, art and so much more. I can’t wait to finish up design school and see where life takes me. Thanks for reading, stay tuned for what’s to come.
